MPI membership is comprised of more than 20,000 members belonging to 71 chapters and clubs worldwide.

The governing body of MPI is the Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for reviewing and approving the organization's strategic plans. It oversees financial integrity and monitors performance against achievement of strategy and long-term vision. Members of the Board include the chairman/chairwoman of the board, chairman/chairwoman-elect, three (3) vice chairmen/chairwomen, immediate past chairman/chairwoman and twelve (12) directors. The current MPI Board of Directors will remain in office until June 30, 2013.
Each year, MPI members in good standing are eligible to submit an application to serve on the MPI Board of Directors. The call for applications opens in December and closes on January 15. By March 1 of each year, the Governance and Nominating Committee shall submit a slate of one (1) candidate for each vacancy on the MPI Board of Directors and each office of MPI. In selecting nominees, the Governance and Nominating Committee shall evaluate candidates to assure a balance of skills and experiences on the MPI Board of Directors.
