MPI International Board of Directors

Applications Sought for 2018 International Board Members to Support the Mission and Advance the Interest of MPI

MPI is seeking industry champions who are passionate about the meeting and event industry and wish to assist MPI in its strategic advancement toward being the first choice for professional career development and a prominent voice for the global meeting and event community.

Applications will be accepted June 1 – July 18, 2017 for the MPI International Board of Directors. Members appointed to the International Board of Directors will serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2018.

  • Board seats are open to any MPI member in good standing.
  • Officer applicants must have completed one full year of board service or must currently sit on the board - aside from chair-elect candidates who must be a current board member.
  • Board members must receive employer support prior to accepting the assignment and are required to attend three - four face-to-face meetings throughout the year, as well as make an effort to attend MPI's conferences.
  • Board members are asked to cover their own travel expenses when possible. When necessary, some of these costs can be reimbursed per the Volunteer Reimbursement Policy.

Applications must be received by 11:59 pm CST on July 18, 2017. Applicants are asked to upload a resume or curriculum vitae and head shot during the application process.

The Board Development Committee will meet in October 2017 to select a slate of candidates for the 2018 International Board of Directors. Prior to selecting the slate, each applicant is interviewed by a committee member. The committee then evaluates each candidate's skill set and creates a Board slate with a well-rounded talent base. The Board slate will be announced in November and the new International Board of Directors will become active January 1, 2018. See the complete volunteer timeline.

MPI Foundation Global Board of Trustees

LEADERS SOUGHT FOR 2018 MPI FOUNDATON GLOBAL BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO SUPPORT THE MSSION AND ADVANCE THE INTERESTS OF THE FOUNDATION

The MPI Foundation is seeking industry champions who are passionate about the meeting and event industry and wish to assist the Foundation in fueling the growth and advancement of MPI members by providing professional development and career advancement through grants and scholarships. The Foundation also works to propel the meeting and event industry forward by funding pan-industry research that supports the strategic plan of MPI.

The Global Board of Trustees serves as the governing body of the MPI Foundation. The Board of Trustees shall be responsible for the strategic direction and fiduciary oversight of the fundraising and grant activities of the Foundation, and to provide strategic direction and approval of Foundation projects. The MPI Foundation Global Board of Trustees plays a vital role in securing the financial commitments necessary to meet these objectives.

Applications will be accepted June 1 – July 15, 2017 for the MPI Foundation Global Board of Trustees. A standard term of service is three years. Members are eligible to serve two three-year terms.

Prospective members of the Global Board of Trustees will:
  • Be an MPI member in good standing
  • Have significant industry experience and relationships
  • Provide strategic leadership for the growth and development of the MPI Foundation

Commitment of Global Board of Trustees members:
  • Commit to fulfill an individual fundraising goal of at least $25k per year
  • Participate in board activities including regular board calls and at least two onsite meetings. Board members are asked to cover their own travel expense (flights) for these meetings.

Terms of service
  • Trustees are appointed by the MPI Board of Directors. A standard term of service is 3 years. Members are eligible to serve two 3-year terms. Thereafter no trustee shall be eligible for reelection until at least one (1) year has elapsed from the expiration of his or her second three year term.
  • The term of office of any trustee to be elected may be set for less than three years by the MPI Board of Directors as necessary to provide that approximately one-third of the terms of all of the trustees will generally expire each year.
  • The term of a trustee elected to the position of Chair-Elect, Vice Chair or serving as Chair or Immediate Past Chair shall not expire until his or her term as an officer expires.

The call for applications for 2018 MPI volunteer groups will be open online September 1, 2017 - September 30, 2017. International volunteer opportunities are open to any MPI member in good standing.
