MPI HOSTS CMP CERTIFICATION EXAM AT
MEETDIFFERENT® CANCUN 2010

DALLAS (August 10, 2009) Meeting Professionals International (MPI) continues to deliver premium content and resources for its members by hosting the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) exam, implemented by the Convention Industry Council (CIC), to international meeting professionals during MeetDifferent Cancun in February 2010. This CMP exam will be administered one month later than the U.S. based exam, allowing both U.S. and international applicants an extra month to prepare for the CMP certification.

The CMP program exists to enhance the knowledge and performance of meeting professionals, promote the status and credibility of the meeting profession and advance uniform standards of practice. The CMP program recognizes individuals who have demonstrated key understanding and excellence in the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry. This exam is open to all professionals who have met the minimum requirements, and the Cancun location will be the exclusive CMP test given in the Latin American region this year.

“During a complex time in the meetings and events industry, we are hoping to supply the educational materials, training and testing required to designate and elevate deserving meeting professionals,” says Vicki Hawarden, vice president of knowledge for MPI. “By conducting this test in Cancun, we hope to raise the awareness of the value of this Certification and welcome many Latin American professionals to take the exam.”

While providing this unique opportunity during MeetDifferent in February, MPI has developed online study materials to supplement the current MPI Study Guide. Additionally, MPI will facilitate a pre-exam training session and post-exam luncheon for international test takers.

“The CIC is very pleased to be able to offer a CMP exam in conjunction with MeetDifferent,” said Karen Kotowski, COO of the Convention Industry Council. “The selection of this location underscores our commitment to expanding globally and particularly within the Latin American region.”

Individuals must apply by October 28 and the CMP test will be held February 20, 2010. For more information on CMP certification during MeetDifferent Cancun, please click here or type this address into your web browser: http://www.mpiweb.org/Events/MD2010.aspx.
