Chapter Logo Usage

MPI Chapter Logos

MPI Chapter logos were created as the chief means by which MPI Chapters can identify and associate themselves with Meeting Professionals International, therefore guidelines are essential in keeping brand integrity. The Chapter logo and tagline must be displayed on all letterhead, newsletters and other publications, announcements or collateral. As it is the Association’s responsibility to maintain the MPI brand, Chapters should adhere to the guidelines in this manual.

Chapters may not adopt new usages they might see in Association materials. Likewise, with the exception of using the MPI Association logo on Chapter Web sites as a link to www.mpiweb.org, MPI Chapters may not use the MPI Association logo unless they have obtained written permission from MPI’s Marketing & Communications department.

Chapter Logo Elements

The MPI chapter logo consists of:

  • Chapter Name: The name of the specific MPI chapter.
  • Symbol: The Globe. This dynamic symbol represents a global community that is interwoven and interacting, symbolizing the importance of the meeting industry on a global scale.
  • Lettermark: The initials MPI. Not simply three letters, but a custom-designed graphic element.
  • Association Name: Meeting Professionals International

Chapter Logo Size requirements

The chapter logo should be as visible as possible whenever it is used, but NEVER smaller than its minimum size. Minimum size refers to the smallest dimensions allowed for logo versions.

It is stated as a minimum width.

Minimum sizes for each version of the primary chapter logo are:

b) Primary one-color chapter logo: 2 inches wide (51 mm)

Chapter Logo Colors

The colors in the Symbol (Globe) symbolize both the global community and the various segments of the meetings industry, both vital aspects of MPI’s brand personality. For the Chapter logo, the colors used in the Globe are the same as used in the Association logo. Refer to page 5 of this manual for details.

The chapter logo may appear in full-color or one-color (spot). The spot colors recommended are the red, blue, violet and green colors used in the Symbol (Globe). Yellow is not allowed.

Clear Space

Clear space is the minimum “breathing room” maintained around the MPI logo. It should be kept free of graphics, text and other marks. It also defines the minimum distance from the logo to the edge of a printed piece.

The minimum required clear space is defined by the measurement “X” as shown. This measurement of X is equal to 1/2 the diameter of the Symbol (Globe) in the logo.

Additional Design Issues

Globe as a Design Element
The Globe may be used as a large background element for certain design layouts.

This may occur in any color. See Example 1.

The Globe may be used by itself as a design element, but within these parameters:

  • The Globe must be no smaller than 2 inches in diameter. See Example 2.
  • The full chapter logo must appear in the design. See Example 2.
  • The Globe may not be used as a bullet point or similar small design element

MPI Chapter Property Design
Chapters may not use the MPI logo or any part of the MPI logo to build new logos for regional conferences, etc. However, they may use “MPI” in the title of the conference. See Examples 3 and 4.

Separation Of Association Name From Logo
It is permitted to separate “Meeting Professionals International” from the Chapter Logo on internal pages of a publication or document. What this means is that both the Globe, MPI and Chapter Name can be used together as one graphic, independent of the Association Name. Likewise, the Association Name can be used as a design element. This is only permissible on inside pages, as the cover must display the Chapter Logo in its entirety. See Example 5.

Example 5
If there are ever any design-related questions regarding Chapter publications, marketing or communication vehicles that carry visuals, please feel free to contact MPI’s Marketing & Communications Department at 972-702-3019.

Electronic Use for Chapter Logos

When using the Chapter Logo in electronic formats such as Web sites, Web banners, e-mails or PowerPoint presentations, only the following guideline must be followed: The Symbol (Globe) cannot be less than 60 pixels in diameter. See Example 6.

There are some instances, such as Web banners, where there is limited space to work with, and the chapter logo must be smaller than normally allowed. In this case, it is permitted to take off the Association Name (Meeting Professionals International) so the Symbol (Globe) and Lettermark (MPI) can be as large and clear as possible. See Example 7.

If detail is lost in the Globe when downsizing the color logo, use the one-color Chapter Logo instead.
