WEC Attendees Reach Out to Vegas in Need

Mentally and physically disabled people need socialization and purpose just like everyone else. Sadly, the opportunity isn’t always there. But at the non profit Opportunity Village it is. The organization employs disabled people through several channels including a fund-raising thrift store and two campuses—where staff (known as clients) receive vocational training while stuffing bags for conventions, performing mail services and shredding paper for companies throughout the city. Recognizing the importance of this group (which saves the state millions a year in disability payments) and its dependence on outside aid, 30-odd volunteers from the WEC traveled to the Opportunity Village thrift store Saturday morning to paint the expansive back rooms a cheery light blue.
