| Breaking News from MPI Headquarters -- At its fall meeting held October 16 and 17, 2005, the MPI International Board of Directors passed a recommendation that will assist members of the Gulf States Chapter in the rebuilding process following Hurricane Katrina. Effective immediately, MPI will waive dues for one year for those members of the Gulf States Chapter who have lost their home or employment and/or business due to Hurricane Katrina. Members must apply for this waiver of dues. All members have to do is send an email to Sharnette Jackson, MPI Member Services Manager at sjackson@mpiweb.org, letting her know if they have lost their business, job or home due to Hurricane Katrina. We will immediately extend the offer of one year free dues to that member. MPI headquarters will continue to extend the rebates ($58.50 per member) for each chapter member to the chapter leadership so that the chapter maintains most of its operating budget even without member dues revenue. MPI is here to support our members as they rebuild their lives, and as we collectively rebuild the meetings industry in the Gulf States region. |
