Yes. The previous award programs recognized individuals, chapters and organizations for achievements different from the RISE awards criteria.

8.  Would I be notified if I have been nominated for an award?

Yes. Once a nomination is received, MPI will contact the nominee requesting an application be completed and submitted with supporting documentation and two letters of recommendation. The nominee must submit all of the materials by the deadline.

9.  I want to nominate someone for the Member of the Year award, but I don’t know if they are a member of MPI.

Go ahead and submit your nomination for the individual and when received at MPI the individuals membership status will be verified. If the nominee is not a member of MPI you will be contacted that the nomination will not be forwarded to the nominee.

10.  How do I nominate an event? I don’t see an award that allows me to nominate a particular event for an award.

The RISE awards program does not offer an award for a specific meeting or event. The Organizational Achievement RISE award focuses instead on how organizations effectively use meetings and events to drive business results.

11.  Is my chapter considered a MPI Community?

Yes. Your chapter is considered a Community of Geography. Chapters are eligible for the Community Achievement awards.

12.  My chapter produced a successful program in 2008 but the RISE Awards were not active yet. Can I still nominate the program for a community award?

Yes. MPI wants to recognize chapter programs and initiatives that were rolled out while the RISE awards were being created. Any programs completed in the community between July 1, 2007 to time of submission are eligible for the Community Achievement awards.

13.  What qualifies as “professional experience” for the Young Professional Achievement award?

The term “professional experience” refers to full-time employment in any given industry. Time spent working as an intern or part-time is not included in the less than 5 year requirement.
