Call for Proposals
EMEC 2013 Proposals Due: Friday, June 29, 2012
MPI's European Meetings and Events Conference will be taking place in Montreux, Switzerland from January 27-29, 2013.
Meeting Professionals International (MPI) invites presenters to provide current and original content proposals that support MPI’s Thought Leadership Initiatives, MPI’s Global Training Practice offerings (MPI certified trainers only), and personal and professional development.
MPI actively seeks presenters who employ interactive learning formats that utilize collaborative learning opportunities. The design and delivery should be appropriate to all learners. Targeted content may be identified for a specific experience level, i.e. novice, intermediate and/or advance practitioners.

- Content suitable for multiple levels (Intermediate: suitable for attendees in the industry more than 5 years and Advanced: suitable for attendees in the industry more than 10 years)

- Faculty: Share specific knowledge and comprehensive information; elevate content level through adult learning experiences and breadth of industry knowledge.

Target Audience
The MPI audience consists of largely MPI members that are leading meeting and events industry professionals (both planners and suppliers), as well as students, faculty and trade press. English is the official language, but please note that MPI services a Global community and for approximately 10% of the community, English is a second language. Specifically event attendees seek:
- Core business level content that improves every day job performance skills and general personal growth and development
- Critical event and meeting operations, planning and management skills
- Content on the Business of Meetings (business and leadership skills), rather than meetings logistics
- A forum to meet with other senior level professionals and exchange ideas, share inspirations and frustrations about their business and industry
- Content that creates transformational solutions for the future of the industry
Proposal Submission
- Presenters must submit a proposal to be considered for any of MPI's content offerings
- Presentation proposals for EMEC 2013 will be accepted through June 29, 2012
- All proposals must be submitted online using MPI's proposal form. Multiple proposals for multiple topics may be submitted.
- Notifications of status of submission(s) will start in September 2012.
Selection Criteria
Proposals are reviewed and scored based on content, format and presenter credentials.
- Content – Is the proposal credible, relevant, timely and innovative? Is the proposal free of grammatical and spelling errors?
- Format – Is the format conductive to adult learning? Are participatory learning formats used and is the session designed to address all learning types?
- Presenter – Is the presenter knowledgeable, experienced and credible in the proposed content area?
Additional Proposal Considerations
- Presenters collaborating in multiple content initiatives
- Appropriate and engaging session title
- Clear, concise session descriptions that accurately reflect proposed content
- Achievable and measurable Objectives/Learner Outcomes
- Presentation plan enhancing the learning experience through appropriate length, format, method and audience interaction
- Practical, real-world application of the concept or solution presented (best practices, case studies)
- Relevant to the industry’s body of knowledge
- Advanced level of content
- Introduction of new ideas and methods; potential to promote the development of new skills and knowledge
- Evaluation data from previous conferences
- Geographic proximity of the presenter
Proposals of a commercial nature which promote or market particular products, destinations and/or services, will not be considered.
Additional Information
- Sessions times: 15 minutes – 90 minutes, subject to final programming schedule.
- Submission does not guarantee inclusion in the conference.
- MPI records its conference presentations and the recordings and/or transcriptions are provided to the conference attendees. Presenters who grant MPI permission to record their presentations are given preference in the selection process.
- Multiple proposals may be submitted, but must be sent individually.
- Proposals missing required information will result in delay and may lead to rejection.
- If submitting a proposal on behalf of another presenter, enter the information of the person who will be presenting.
