Political Intelligence™ - How to use politics for strategic influencing

In today’s increasingly complex work environment, studies have called political intelligence™ ‘the missing leadership competency’ because the ‘traditional’ skills of leadership are no longer sufficient to guarantee personal and organisational success. To be influential, you need to be able to effectively manage the political environment of both your own and your client organisation. Research indicates that the ‘negative’ aspects of organisational politics adversely affect morale, productivity and profitability; a recent survey from a leading international business school indicates that it is the number one cause of stress in the workplace. Today’s leaders need not only a keen awareness of their political landscape, but more importantly, the skills to maneuver effectively around political minefields using a set of behaviours critical to getting things done in a positive way for all concerned.

Outline of the session

  • What is organisational politics?
  • How political is your organisation?
  • Political perceptions
  • The model for making sense of the different political animals in all organizations
  • Understanding how political behaviour is perceived by others
  • Examining political preferences in your personal political intelligence™ profile
  • Deciding on what to change to be more successful

Personality selling - How to successfully sell to people who are very different

Many organisations use a structured sales process. But why is it that it works well with some people and not with others? Why is it that we meet some people and after 5 minutes feel that we have known them forever and with others we just never seem to be able to ‘click’? Why are we so successful with some people and then, without changing anything are unsuccessful with others? This session will identify the 4 ‘Personality Types’ that exist and will cover how they all require a different approach in order to make a buying decision. The good news is that these types are not difficult to identify and with some small changes to your behaviour your selling success can improve considerably. We will also investigate how to influence these types and provide you with a pragmatic model and practical tools to take away and use on return to your workplace. We will cover a wide range of do’s and don’ts and show you the 4 step process to ‘Personality Selling’ success. You will take away material that will alter the way you do things and which will lead to greater personal success.

Outline of the session

  • What are the differences between the four ‘Types’?
  • Where am I and what are my preferences?
  • So what? What do I have to do to be more successful?
  • Type spotting and categorising
  • Behavioural flexibility and how to do it
  • The practical aspects and practice!

An Industry in Transition

Due to the current economic climate our industry is now facing the challenge of change. Global environmental changes are linked to the economic climate and this session will address how the event industry will need to adapt, diversify and change to meet economic and environmental factors. These challenges also provide opportunities and this session will take delegates through a step-by-step transition process with the result of the creation of a strategy of change which will provide a big picture viewpoint and allow individuals to take away their own action plan.

Putting a value on emotions

Events create emotions, memorable moments, touching participants through all the five senses. How can you measure that and place a value on emotions? Emotions may have value as experiences for consumption, but they only become investments for event stakeholders when converted into actions.
By the end of this session you will know:
* How to evaluate the effectiveness of events where emotional experiences are the main ingredients
* How to convince budget owners that emotional and experiential events will create a positive ROI

Meeting Architecture Process, MAP™ the management tool for effective meetings.

The presentation explains the Meeting Architecture Process or MAP™. MAP™ is essentially a four step process of which ‘Identifying objectives’ is the first step and ‘Designing the meeting’ the second. These two steps are crucial to increase meeting effectiveness. This presentation helps meeting planners with tools and language to get more involved and eventually be seen as the go-to person for the design of meetings. MAP™ contains templates, checklists and flowcharts that can be used in project meetings to improve the value of meetings in learning, networking and motivation for participants.
