Connecting to Wi-Fi from your laptop or wireless phone

  1. Connect to the MPIWEC2010 wireless signal at the Vancouver Convetion Center on your laptop or wireless phone

  2. Open an internet browser and you will automaticly be directed to a VCC wirless authentication page

  3. Check the box to accpect the VCC wifi usage "terms of service" and press "Connect" to be connected to wifi - brought to you by IMEX America

iPhone

  1. Turn on Wi-Fi: Choose Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on.

  2. Join a Wi-Fi network: Choose Settings > Wi-Fi, wait a moment as iPhone detects networks in range, then select a network (fees may apply to join some Wi-Fi networks). If necessary, enter a password and tap Join (networks that require a password appear with a lock icon).

  3. Once you’ve joined a Wi-Fi network manually, iPhone automatically connects to it whenever the network is in range. If more than one previously used network is in range, iPhone joins the one last used.

When iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network, the Wi-Fi icon in the status bar at the top of the screen shows the connection strength. The more bars you see, the stronger the connection.


Blackberry

  1. On the Home screen or in the application list, click Manage Connections.

  2. Perform one of the following actions:
    • To turn off a wireless connection, clear the check box beside the connection type.
    • To turn off all wireless connections, click Turn All Connections Off.

  3. To turn on a wireless connection again, select the check box beside the connection type or click Restore Connections.

Android

To find networks in your range:

  1. Touch Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi settings.

  2. Touch Wi-Fi to turn on and scan. If Wi-Fi is already on, touch Menu > Scan. Your phone lists the networks it finds within range.

    Tip: To see your phone’s MAC address or other Wi-Fi details, touch Menu > Advanced.

  3. Touch a network to connect.

  4. If necessary, enter Network SSID, Security, and Wireless password, and touch Connect. When your
    phone is connected to the network, the wireless indicator appears in the status bar.

Tip: When you are in range and Wi-Fi is on, you will automatically reconnect to available networks you’ve connected to before.
