Orlando, Florida is best known for its theme parks and family friendly offerings; but Orlando is more than amusements and world class golf courses. It is a diverse and vibrant city that caters to all ages and interests.
Surrounded by charming and historical towns with brick-paved streets and independently owned shops and restaurants, you can explore the worlds of fantasy one day and on the next day, the awe inspiring reality of dreams: a rocket launch. Experience the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean then watch the same sun set over the Gulf that very night. Science, art, fine dining, eco-tours, wildlife, NBA basketball and world-class shopping are all a compliment to the playground that is Orlando.
Ranked #1 for corporate meetings and associations in 2010 by Metropoll, a national bi-annual study, Orlando boasts a convention center with over 2 million square feet in total exhibition space, more than 450 hotels and over 5000 restaurants. Orlando International Airport has 41 scheduled airlines providing non-stop service from 72 domestic U.S. cities and 19 international cities. The airport is within 20-30 minutes of major attractions and hotels.
Orange is the New Green!
Orlando is widely known for its fresh citrus - the gift of sunshine. The City Beautiful sought a new and equally important distinction when the Orlando CVB partnered with the U.S. Green Building Council in October of 2010 and introduced the Central Florida Green Destination Initiative with the goal of making Central Florida the greenest destination for convention and tourism in the country. Orlando is already paving the way with the Orange County Convention Center’s current and long term green projects; and the new Amway Center which opened in the fall of 2010. The new Events Center in downtown Orlando is the first NBA facility to earn LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) is also becoming nationally recognized for its green initiatives. The OCCC became an industry leader in 2007 when it became the first convention center in the U.S. to become ISO14001 Certified for its recycling program.
