What if I need to send someone else in my place?
Attendees may transfer registrations but may be charged an additional fee depending on registration type. All requests must be sent to wec@showcare.com.
I am a member of the press – do you have press registration?
WEC 2011 welcomes the professional editorial staff (including photographers and camera crews) of print, online, and broadcast media at most of their conventions, conferences, symposia and educational seminars. Complimentary registrations are extended to the “working media” for most meetings with the same amenities as other full-price registrants. Other publication staff (non-editorial positions, such as advertising directors and advertising representatives) may attend only as part of exhibitor staff and must pay the full registration fees. For more information, contact Theresa Davis at tdavis@mpiweb.org.
The Promotional Lunch is free, why do I have to have a ticket?
The promotional lunch is open to all attendees, however historically not everyone attends the lunch. If MPI was to set the room for 100% of the registered attendees, there would be an enormous amount of food and money wasted. Having a ticket system is the most responsible way MPI knows to get a count for the room.

EDUCATION
Why is there an extra fee for the computer lab sessions?
Computer labs have an additional fee to help offset the expense for the use of the computers. Some of the best educational experiences are those in which you dive in and learn by doing, and our computer labs let you do just that.
What should I do if the session I would like to attend is full?
MPI suggests that you get to the assigned meeting room at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the session to obtain a seat. You should also note the top two sessions you want to attend during a particular time slot, then you will have a back-up should a session fills up. Please note that all session rooms are set to help foster a creative learning environment and are set to the maximum number of seats allowed per the Fire Marshal. As an attendee-benefit at WEC this year, please utilize the repeat session voting capability during the Daily Download, at the end of each day.
Why does my name badge need to be scanned prior to entering a session?
We scan all attendees entering sessions for multiple reasons. First, we record how many attendees are in each session for help with content planning for the future. Second, we scan to provide attendees with their list of sessions attended as well as Continuing Education Units (CEU) achieved from attending sessions at WEC 2011. Your name badge will be scanned by an educational assistant as you enter the room. The CEUs will be added to your transcript within six weeks of the conference. Please review and verify that your CEU credits are correct by going to www.mpiweb.org and logging into your profile.
What is the maximum number of CEU's I can receive at WEC 2011?
Many of the sessions at WEC 2011 will provide CEUs. Some exceptions are Flash Point, and a few of the interactive, peer-to-peer learning sessions designed to get people talking. MPI is working with CIC to make sure the most up-to-date and accurate information about what sessions are eligible according to the blueprint sections of the CMP exam. The maximum amount of CEU's you can receive at WEC 2011 is 12.5, including 1 session per time slot and both General Sessions. All sessions that are eligible for CEU credit are notated on the website.
CEU’s are provided at a conversion rate of .1 to 1 contact hour of learning – so a 1.5 hour session would be .15 CEU’s. Something that we started this year, since the CIC now uses contact hours as their measurement, is recording BOTH in the MPI member transcripts that can be accessed on the website through the Career Development tab once you are signed in as a member..
