Congrats Ray and Carina; Goodbye Dear Tony
In It Together
By David Basler
IMEX 2009—what an event! My compliments to Ray and Carina and the entire IMEX team for a job very well done.
The show was a complete success. I personally had the wonderful opportunity to meet many of you face to face, something that I had wanted to do since we started One+EMEA back in January. These face-to-face meetings gave us a valuable opportunity to not only learn more about each other, but also to learn what is most important to you in the coming year—what you want to see in One+EMEA and how we can make your reading experience more personalized.
I urge you to continue to share your thoughts and ideas with me. I had a Twitter diary going through every day of IMEX and got great response from it. I’d love it if you’d follow me on Twitter (my handle is onepluseditor) or just send me an e-mail, and let me know what you think of One+EMEA and share your ideas on how we can make it better. This magazine is your member magazine, and it’s my job to make sure it’s everything you want and need.
On the pages of this issue you will find a series of features focused on the theme of this year’s World Education Congress—“When we meet we change the world”—as well as a tribute to our beloved Tony Carey.
Tony was a familiar face to all of us and a face missing from this year’s IMEX. He had just been awarded a U.S. national award for his columns written for MPI, but sadly, Tony passed away just days after IMEX concluded. So, in honor of his years of dedication to MPI and our publications, we have decided to re-run those award-winning columns for your enjoyment, along with a small feature sharing stories told by some of Tony’s friends and colleagues.
Cheers, dear friend, you will be missed.
