Making Organization Connections

MPI Indiana Chapter makes strategic connection with another association.

By Jessie States

Acknowledging the current economic climate and industry crisis, MPI Indiana Chapter members have found comfort from their peers at the Indiana Society of Association Executives. Building on strong relationships—and similar education needs—the two organizations forged a partnership several years ago and founded the annual CrossConnect event, which celebrates its third year on Nov 19 at the Renaissance Indianapolis North Hotel.

By sharing costs, the two organizations finance quality speakers and first-rate education. And the addition of the MPI supplier market provides an excellent opportunity for the association executives to network with venues, destinations and meetings providers.

“We see this as a centerpiece for industry education in Indiana,” said Amanda Cecil, CMP, assistant professor at Indiana University and former Indiana Chapter president. “CrossConnect is just another way for us to reach out to meeting and association professionals across the state and create positive growth experiences.”

This year’s event will feature keynotes Dr. Robert Pennington (“Leading Teams so People Want to Follow: Balancing Collaboration & Authority”) and Bryan Gray (“The Digital Checklist: Tools & Tactics That Every Organization Should Use”). Education sessions will focus on social media, exciting program creation and activation during stressful times.
