    Tablet Games

Tablets=the next gaming platform?  A survey conducted by Google's AdMob showed gaming as the most popular tablet activity.

What might the tablet factor mean for game designers and the evolution of gaming?

Check out this recent interview with SIMS creator Will Wright (who allegedly games the most on his iPad) to hear his thoughts on the matter.

    Create a "Future City"

See how you respond to pressing urban challenges by playing Urbanology Online, an interactive game in which players "create" a city through a series of questions.

The game serves as the online companion to an interactive installation at the BMW Guggenheim Lab, currently in New York’s East Village.

By answering scenario-based questions involving education, housing, health care, infrastructure and mobility—players role-play for city transformation to build a city that matches their specific desires and needs. Based on their personal responses, the player's "Future City" is created and compared with other cities around the world.

It would be interesting to see a "Plan Your 'Future Meeting'" game. Do you know of any interactive meeting planning games?

    Marriott's New Game

Marriott International is hoping a new game will help them find some job recruits.

"My Marriott Hotel" can be found on the company's jobs and careers Facebook page. According to the Wall Street Journal, "Marriott has the challenge of attracting newcomers to around 50,000 hotel positions this year, many in emerging markets such as India and China, which don't have strong hospitality-industry traditions."

The game—available in five languages—focuses on running a hotel kitchen, and players are awarded points for happy customers and lose points for poor management. Marriott hopes that playing the game helps demystify what it's like to work in a hotel kitchen and help drive new job applicants.

Please watch the video below for more information about the game.

    Gambling on the Go?

A bill that would allow patrons to gamble on casino-issued mobile devices from anywhere in a hotel-casino is being considered by Nevada legislators, according to Bloomberg Businessweek. Currently, gambling can only take place in public areas that are supervised.

The article says the mobile devices would guard against underage gambling by requiring a PIN number to be re-entered periodically. Proponents believe the move would bridge traditional card games on the casino floor and Internet gambling.

    Pinball Wizard

Groove to the rhythm of the flashing lights!

Pinball, a slacker sport of decades past, has now received its justified place of honor in an honest-to-goodness museum in America's capital! The National Pinball Museum opened this month with more than 14,000 square feet of pinball geekery and memorabilia.

Of course, this news item found its spot on PlusPoint because you can absolutely reserve the museum for your private events. A party room is available during regular business hours, but book outside of those hours and you can secure the entire venue.

Museum curator David Silverman has a collection of more than 800 pinball-related machines (including the 19th century precursor known as a bagatelle), and can probably best your high score blindfolded.
