    Experiencing EMEC Online

A little over a week ago, meeting and event professionals connected at EMEC 2013 in beautiful Montreux, Switzerland by attending sessions, networking, and doing business.  From my desk here in Dallas, I connected as a remote viewer, watching social media streams and education sessions online.  It's exciting to see the collaboration and creation that happens online during an event.  (A great consolidation of photos and tweets from the event can be found here.)  This year I wanted to share some of the stand-out sessions (a few listed below) that garnered buzz on and offline.  What EMEC sessions or events did you enjoy online or onsite?

Check out some of the great education from EMEC through our virtual experience.  You can watch sessions (including those listed below) and interviews on demand.

    • "A Conversation with MPI" - MPI Chair Kevin Hinton and COO and CEO Interim Cindy D'Aoust, discuss the organization's priorities for 2012-2013, an update on the European chapter model redesign, and more.

    • "Flash Forward 2030: Future Trends That Will Drive Change in Your Meetings" - Envision your role as an industry professional in 2030.  In this education session, scenarios are given to help professionals understand the future of meetings.

    • “Mega Conversations: How to Design & Deliver Dialogue-Based Events” - In addition to discussing the challenges and offering insight into dialogue-based events, this session delivers three techniques--anecdote circles, World Café, and open space technology--to use in your own events.

    Becoming an Online Educator

Mashable highlighted Skillshare today with tips on how to successfully share your unique expertise through online courses.

And wouldn't you know it, there's a "Hosting Your Own Conference" course, delivered by Skillshare CEO Michael Karnjanaprakorn.

    Deets about the course:

We'll go over curating the conference (most important part) to booking speakers, marketing the event, and selling out! We started The Feast Conference on a $5,000 budget and grew it to a sold-out audience of 400+ folks at The Times Center in less than 3 years. You can watch the Livestream, which received nearly 700K viewer minutes.

Even if you don't want to put together a huge conference, you'll learn some tips and tricks in pulling off successful events: conferences, workshops, salons, parties, etc.

Class Format: This class will be a short 20-minute lecture followed by 30 minutes of Q&A.

Sure, there are no dates listed for this precise course, but this is a wonderful avenue for which meeting professionals can spread their knowledge and help educate the world.
