You know, you really do have to be careful what you ask for. Recently the communications team emailed Junior Tauvaa, MPI VP of Chapter Business and Member Services who is currently in Beijing, and we asked him how were things going with our first Global Training Program being offered with the Beijing Tourism Administration. The image you see above was part of the email we received.
I had to chuckle. I can only imagine that with a 13 hour time difference it didn't dawn on my colleague that I neither speak nor read Chinese (any dialect). So I had to laugh and say, "Hope it's good news!"
Well, in fact, it is. It's actually great news and proof that our expansion into the Asia Pacific market is working because MPI is able to deliver relevant and critical content and education to industry professionals in China, Japan, Korea and other emerging Asian markets. The first Global Training Program in China has now trained 70 meeting and event professionals in a five-day course covering crucial skill development in project and destination management, budgeting, event logistics and contract negotiation.
Never one to be satisfied with what Google Translate will tell me of the Beijing news (although it does seem to be positive). I'm now corresponding with four professionals who took the course in Beijing and I look forward to sharing more of their input with the MPI community in the weeks ahead.
