Did you know that if your flight in Europe is canceled and you're consequently denied boarding, you could be entitled to compensation between €125 and €600? Did you know that if your luggage is damaged as a result of an accident, you could also be entitled to compensation? That rail and air companies are obliged to provide transparent information on pricing?
Whether your flight is canceled, your hotel is not priced as advertised or your train time has changed, a new smartphone app can help you understand your rights—in 22 different languages. And if you feel that your rights have not been respected, the app also provides information on who to contact in order to complain. The app currently covers air and rail transport, and will be extended to bus/coach and marine travel in 2013.
During a large-scale emergency, like the Icelandic volcanic ash crisis in 2010, the application will also display travel information and advice from the European Commission. The app is part of the commission’s Your Passenger Rights at Hand campaign: Access the app here:
