Purposeful Meetings at IMEX America

The global meeting industry comes together once again to share passion, innovation, business opportunities and knowledge this month in Las Vegas at IMEX America.

The seventh installment of the leading show—featuring free entry and free education—will take place at the Sands Expo and The Venetian/The Palazzo Oct. 10-12 with events and learning kicking off the day before the show on Smart Monday powered by MPI, Oct. 9.

Everything that has been added or expanded at the show is about delivering the highest quality experience for hosted buyers, buyer attendees, industry thought leaders, exhibitors and more.

In line with this goal, the 2017 IMEX Talking Point is Purposeful Meetings—how to plan with deeper meaning, innovation and insight in mind. Under the Purposeful Meetings umbrella, the IMEX America 2017 education program will feature sessions on event design, behavioral science, health and well being, technology and leaving a positive legacy—all with an eye to upping attendee engagement, inspiration, enjoyment and lasting value.

New highlights to be on the watch for at this year’s IMEX America include the following.

Expanding Exhibitors. Pumping up the business value again this year, the show includes approximately 50 expanded booths and 50 entirely new booths, including several that will be part of the show’s dedicated Tech Pavilion. 

More Innovative & Inspiring Education. More than 180 sessions are expected this year. Smart Monday powered by MPI will feature a wide array of education sessions and Daily Keynotes. Also new for Smart Monday is an Event Design Certificate (EDC) Program Level 1 of Mastery taught by the Event Design Collective. Further, the new Association Leadership Forum plus two ICCA-led sessions for associations take the place of Association Focus.

Then throughout the show innovative learning will be ever expanding. Inflatable domes will be used for some seminars and workshops at the Maritz-sponsored Inspiration Hub, giving planners a vivid sense of potential meeting rooms of the future.

Greener & More CSR-Focused than Ever. All aisle carpet will be made from 25 percent recycled material for the first time and is 100 percent recyclable. Larger, paper-only badges mean no need for plastic covers. The #greencaffeine initiative will ask each person coming to the show to bring their favorite travel mug from home for coffee refills at certain Sands Expo coffee outlets. Spread the Word Nevada, a children’s literacy nonĀ­profit, is a new IMEX CSR partner. All attendees are being asked to bring one book to the IMEX Sustainability and CSR Showcase booth.
