Event Overview:

The 1st Annual MPI CT River Valley November ½ day Education program will highlight Dr. Linda Robson where you will apply the Robson Risk Management Model to actual events, then partake in a 90-minute disaster scenario with moderator Kim Hull, CMP from LIMRA.

A Creative Approach to Risk Management
Risk management continues to be a hot topic in the events industry, but the focus is always on reacting to a catastrophe or disaster.  While catastrophes and disasters are horrific, they are the responsibility of governments not event professionals.  As an industry we need to concentrate on being proactive.  We want to learn how to anticipate, prepare, monitor, and respond to risks at events.  This session will use the Robson Risk Management Model, case studies, and discussions to give you a better understanding of how you approach risk.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Learning to identify resources that can be used for risk management.
  2. Get hands on experience applying the Robson Risk Management Model to events.
  3. Learn how to effectively identify, assess, and apply strategies for a variety of risks.

The Disaster Experience
Join your local peers in a 90 minute hands-on exercise with moderator, Kim Hull, CMP on how to handle unexpected catastrophic situations at a meeting. In this table top exercise, you will come across one or many disasters that you would need to respond to. How will your team handle these disasters, especially if you’re down a team member? The disasters could range from employee relations, legal issues, media and public relations, as well as, natural disasters, terrorism, and other disastrous events – any of which could impact your organization on any given day!
