Event Marketing Essentials

Live events are uniquely positioned to cultivate trust, business exchange, and learning through face-to-face interactions. They also illuminate customer buying signals but are often missed due to lack of data and impactful event marketing strategies. MPI has convened some of the best event marketing experts in the business to deliver unparalleled education that will prepare you to design and execute measurable outcomes associated with your event marketing efforts. This short course was designed based on content curated from MPI’s Event Marketing Certificate Program.

Connecting The Dots:  What Does All The Disruption Mean From A Strategic View

From disruption of technological forces that are changing the way we work and play to changes in Washington which will take time to understand its full impact, it is important to understand the context of what is taking place in our world today.  The speed of change is a force that we will all wrestle with over the next decade.

As the economic environment and hotel structure continue to change at a rapid pace, it is important to understand the current outlook, economic concerns and forecasts that will dictate behavior in all business environments.  The impacts of global political and economic instability still exist although the global economy is growing together for the first time in modern history

Our world has become much more complex with a variety of issues from, cyber security, meetings advocacy, behavioral changes and Health & Wellness leading the charge. In this dynamic session, industry veteran Michael Dominguez shares the latest trends in the hotel industry and how they affect your meetings and incentives.

Gain a better understanding of the economic environment, how structural changes will have an impact in 2019 and beyond, identify ways to optimize your ability to maneuver through this quickly changing environment.  We will also explore the internal and external forces that will continue to pressure meeting design, content dissemination and the need to understand we no longer have attendees, but rather participants in meetings.

Learning Objectives:
  • Understand the need to move fast in changing organizational structure
  • Take a look at the impact of global political and economic forecasts
  • Review industry forecast for the US and Global sectors
  • Understand new competition and disruptive forces that will move us all
  • Understand behavior changes in audiences of the future
  • Review what is MYTH versus REALITY in today’s environment

Why Planners Should Attend:

Close out the 2018-19 year of MPI CRV educational content with the biggest names in our industry! Michael Dominguez, Senior Vice President and Chief Sales Officer for MGM Resorts International, will join us to discuss Industry Trends. Take your meetings and events to the next level by incorporating tips, tricks, and elements that Mike Dominguez will share with us.

Take the time to meet with industry suppliers during our trade show and learn about new companies, venues, speakers, etc. This is the time for them to put their best foot forward for you. When you visit a designated number of suppliers during the trade show, you will be entered into the raffle to win items provided by the suppliers that you have just met with! Winners will be selected at the networking reception and, just a head’s up, you must be present to win.

Why Suppliers Should Attend:

Partner with MPI CRV for 3 hours of education to learn this year’s industry trends and showcase your company at the trade show. The trade show will be sandwiched between two heavy-hitting education sessions which will highlight industry trends. Stay on top of the game as a supplier in our industry and strengthen your relationships with local planner partners.

This year, we will provide planners with an opportunity to visit with you for an hour following the first education session. In that hour, they will receive a passport which will encourage them to visit a designated number of tables.

In turn, they will be entered into the trade show raffle for prizes to be provided by you. Bring your best experiences and items to this raffle! Planners in the Connecticut River Valley area are responsible for planning meetings and events throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and over 15 other countries with a variety of meeting sizes. These planners are spending approximately $30 million dollars a year on their meetings and events. Now is the time to get in front of these planners to showcase your organization.
