POSITION: Director of Sales
LOCATION: Grand Rapids, MI

JOB DESCRIPTION: 
We are currently seeking a professional Director of Sales at the Doubletree Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Reporting to the General Manager, our full service upscale hotel is seeking a dynamic individual with proven leadership and motivational skills to lead our Sales & Marketing Department. The ideal candidate will be capable of directing all sales and top line revenue activity, possess strong yield and revenue management experience, and demonstrate excellent interpersonal competence. The position responsibilities include direct sales solicitation, direct supervision of sales staff; creation and execution of marketing plans; responsibility for meeting budgeted sales and profit margins; and ensuring customer success. Specific responsibilities include: Direct the solicitation efforts of room sales through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date and space commitments for group room sales within the hotel. Administer the staffing, training and performance reviews for the Sales Department. Ensure training programs are conducted regularly and Spire's standards of performance are met. Give guidance and counsel staff toward improvement. Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for development of new marketing strategies. Make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from various markets. Develop and conduct persuasive sales presentations for prospective clients. Internally promote hotel’s programs. Meet with and entertain clients, some of which may require travel. Initiate preparation of computerized annual Marketing Plan and execute plans as outlined, critically examining and adjusting as deemed necessary by current market conditions. Implement measures to enhance the property's community image.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3-5 years of hotel sales experience at the supervisory level. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; a professional attitude; excellent appearance; good listening skills; excellent organizational skills; and a proven track record for marketing success. In addition, the successful candidate will possess a solid network of active business leads. We offer a competitive salary and benefits structure.

POSITION: National Convention Sales Manager

LOCATION: Ann Arbor, MI

JOB DESCRIPTION: Sales Markets: University of Michigan, UM Medical Center and additional markets that work in conjunction with the UM; and the Electrical Training ALLIANCE and related groups Responsible for developing and cultivating business groups to host state, regional and national meetings, conferences and seminars at the University of Michigan, the University Medical Center and all venues/facilities in Washtenaw County. This position is also responsible for sales and services for the Electrical Training Alliance Annual Conference.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience, and Skills Required • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 10 years of directly related experience. • Strong knowledge of the UM conference and event facilities, and the Washtenaw County area (and venues) is a must. • Attention to detail, highly organized, goal oriented with strong time management skills. • Outgoing, professional, comfortable in sales solicitation scenarios a must. • Responsible for adhering to all budget guidelines outlined in the annual budget plan. • Responsible for successful completion of all assigned Marketing Plan initiatives. • Must be able to handle numerous tasks simultaneously under time constraints. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
