About the Presentation
A Hurricane Story: How CAMX Didn’t Let Irma Stop ThemSome of us have only had to think about it. Heather and her team actually experienced it. When Hurricane Irma hit in September 2017, the CAMX show team had to make quick decisions to postpone their Orlando show which was expecting 8,000 attendees and 550 exhibiting companies. In this session, Heather will share:
- the timeline of their decision making process
- how they notified attendees and exhibitors
- how they rescheduled with the convention center and the multiple hotels where they had room blocks
- what happened to all the freight that was already sent to Orlando
- how cancellation insurance may or may not have been a factor
- the impact on the show. Did all attendees and exhibitors return when it was rescheduled for December?
- what they learned from this experience and what they wish they had known
Meet Our Speaker
Heather Rhoderick, CMP, CAE, has spent her 22+ year career in association and event management. She currently leads all nondues revenue activities for the American Composites Manufacturers Association, as well as marketing and communications. Prior to that she spent almost 5 years at the Newspaper Association of America as the Show Director for NEXPO, the industry’s largest trade show in the US. For 9 years she worked at the American Chemistry Council as part of the Responsible Care program where she managed their Associate Membership program, as well various events and education activities. She has her MBA from Virginia Tech and graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Political Science and Business.

Cancellations received by the office at least two business days prior to the event are eligible for a refund of the registration fee. No refunds will be provided for cancellations received fewer than two business days prior to the event. No-shows will be billed for any unpaid registration fees.
