Each year, the New England area MPI chapter’s Nominating Committee recommends a slate of candidates to serve on the Chapter Board of Directors.  On behalf of this year’s Nominating Committee, please follow the prompts on the form below  to submit your name or the name of a peer for a position on the board.

The Board of Directors is made up of New England chapter members: Directors and Vice Presidents, who comprise the Executive Committee.  Active chapter members in good standing are eligible for nomination and election to any elective office.  For Executive Committee positions, it is preferable that the member has previous service on the Board of Directors.  New England Executive Committee and New England  Director positions are available for the 2018-2019 term.

The Nominating Committee is made up of planners and suppliers who are in good standing and are familiar and active in chapter functions/events.


MPI Board of Directors Qualifications:

  • Be a Member in good standing.
  • Be willing to fulfill the obligations of office, in the capacity indicated
  • Have a history of involvement, accomplishment and dependable service to MPI
  • Be willing to contribute time, energy and creativity to the chapter with the consent of your employer

Serving on the board is not only demanding and challenging, but it is also extremely rewarding.  Consider becoming a leader in a chapter of the largest organization of meeting professionals.  This is your chance to contribute to the growth and professionalism of our chapter.

Before committing to a board position, please review the job descriptions available on the New England MPI website under the Get Involved dropdown.  In addition, consider the following responsibilities of all board members:

  • Must attend and participate in 6 board meetings (generally precedes a monthly meeting every other month)
  • Must submit a board report each month with fellow committee members
  • Attendance at monthly chapter meetings is strongly encouraged
  • Attendance at the 2 day annual retreat in April/May as well as the 2 day midyear retreat in November is essential
  • Contribution of information/articles for the newsletter as requested
  • And other responsibilities as outlined in the committee description section

Proposed Board Application Timeline (subject to change at the discretion of the Nominations Committee):

  • Application live on the Website by September 30th
  • Application window closed at 11:59PM on Wednesday, November 28th, 2018
  • Eligible Applicant Interview Period December  3rd-21st
  • Final Executive slate proposed to the current Board of Directors by 1st Board Meeting of the new year (January, date TBD)
  • Final Board of Director slate sent to entire chapter membership for contestation/acceptance January 28th, 2019
  • Final Board of Director slate sent to MPI Global for confirmation March 1st, 2019

CHAPTER BOARD APPLICATION

 

To be eligible for election to MPI New England Chapter Board of Directors, we encourage all members interested in chapter leadership to complete this application.  Complete this application by November 28th, 2018 by 11:59PM

The officers and directors represent the voice of the chapter’s membership.  To ensure that the Board has the vision and the ability to provide the membership with a variety of benefits including opportunities for learning, building relationships, and growing their businesses, it is required that the board collectively possess the following traits:

With this in mind, please answer the following questions, which illustrate your ideas for the future growth, direction, and development of the MPI “Enter Chapter Name” Chapter.  The final board slate will be determined by April 1.

Regular attendance at monthly meetings, chapter activities and functions, attendance at Board meetings and retreats. Do you forsee any challenges with this as relates to current workload or travel schedule? Attendance at the Annual MPI Board Retreat is required to be considered for the next term. The tentative timeframe for the annual retreat is a Thursday evening through Saturday morning in late April or early May. If you have any special circumstances as to why you would not be able to attend, please let us know.

After review of the various committees, please describe where you feel a strong interest or skill match and discuss what you hope to bring to a board role on that committee and alternatively what you hope to gain personally/professionally from having a role on that committee. (Disclaimer: interest in a particular role does not guarantee placement there, through the subsequent interview and discussion phase of the process other roles may be explored)

List your committee, board, and/or special event involvement in MPI during your membership.

List any awards or professional recognition received during your tenure in the meetings industry, or expand on any other allied professional organizations or civic roles that you actively support.
