Dear Chapter Members,

This is an exciting time of year as we look ahead at 2019 and what the future may bring personally and professionally. Now is the time to take charge and raise your game! Supporting MPI programming and serving on the board provide incredible opportunities to expand your network, gain new skills, and enhance your career.

We are currently accepting nominations and applications for positions on the Board of Directors for next term and for the Committee Chair positions for the current and following term.

Call for Board Nominations
As a member of MPIOC, you have the privilege of nominating yourself or other members to serve on the Board of Directors. We invite you to submit yourself or to recommend someone who you think would be a great leader or contributor to one of the committees. Current board members are not automatic shoe-ins, and the membership as a whole has an opportunity to submit themselves, to vote and to get involved!

What positions are available for the 2019 – 2020 term?

• President-Elect 
• Vice President Finance 
• Vice President Membership 
• Vice President Communications 
• Vice President Education
• Director of Supplier Sponsorships
• Director of Member Retention
• Director of Member Recruitment 
• Director of Education Events
• Director of Special Events 
• Director of Marketing Communications 

Each position has defined responsibilities and leads a committee team. Positions at the Director and VP levels are one-year terms.

How do you qualify to serve on the board? It’s simple! 

• Be an active member of MPIOC in good standing.
• Be willing to fulfill the obligations of the office in the capacity indicated.
• Have a history of involvement in chapter activities.
• Have served as a dependable volunteer on a committee (start today!).
• Be willing to commit to a contribution of time, energy, and creativity to the chapter.

What are the expectations if elected to the board?

• Serve for a one (1) year term July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.
• Attend/participate in monthly board meetings in person (or via phone if on-site elsewhere).  Only two unexcused absences.
• Attend/participate in both 1 ½ – 2 day leadership retreats (one in spring and one in fall/winter).
• Attend monthly education/networking events sponsored by the chapter.
• Consider attendance at MPI Global’s Chapter Business Summit in conjunction with MPI Global’s World Education Congress (WEC). Chapter/Global sponsors President-Elect and VPs of Membership and Education.

The Board of Directors is made up of the Office of the President which includes the President, President-Elect and Immediate Past President. Officers include four Vice Presidents – Membership, Finance, Education, and Communications. Directors round out each officer’s team. Chair positions are not official board members but do support the committees as team leaders for volunteers.

Serving on the board is a privilege and a commitment. Become a leader in an award-winning chapter of the largest meeting and event industry association worldwide is real business. Take this as an opportunity to grow personally and professionally and to contribute to the voice for promotion and growth of our industry.
