For me, the main benefit of MPI is personal and professional growth. One concrete example is passing the CMP exam. Had I not had the encouragement of other members and felt fully prepared after enrolling in the CMP Study Group, I may not have gone through with it. As 2018 PHL Diversity Jack Ferguson Scholarship award recipient, my gratitude to Philadelphia Convention & Visitor’s Bureau and MPI Philadelphia is almost inexpressible. This unique award has presented me with the opportunity to attend the 2018 MPI World Education Congress held in Indianapolis June 2-5.
During this conference, I was able to engage with various industry experts, event planning veterans, mid-level and newbies, as well as vendors and associates already listed in my professional contacts. Each day began and ended on a high note with a pep rally—completely inspirational and motivational. The most valuable aspect of the conference was the very informative educational and workshop sessions. From new technological trends hitting the market, “Creating Memorable Experiences, to the Coaches Corner--I was able to walk away with many resources to develop my educational and professional journey and hopefully a few new friends.
