As I am looking back at everything we’ve accomplished together so far in the 2017-2018 term, words cannot express my gratitude to each and every one of you. I am so proud of what we have acheived together so far. We executed programs in 2017 that really supported the year’s theme, “Let’s Give Them Something to Talk About!”
After the spectacular Installation celebration that took place the Beverly Hilton last June, we networked in style on a Hornblower cruise through Marina del Rey, experienced a once-in-a-lifetime tour of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and raised money for a great cause at the glamourous Montage Beverly Hills. We heard directly from our chapter's industry masters at the LINE Hotel and embraced technology trends at the Sheraton Gateway. We hope you find value in the new connections you’ve made, the entertainment you’ve experienced and the lessons you’ve learned. We couldn’t have done it without our sponsors and supporters like you.
What’s Next?
It’s an exciting time to look ahead! Some of our signature events are on the horizon and our committees have spent countless hours ensuring their success. We hope to see you on January 30th at the Pasadena Convention Center as incoming MPI Chair, Amanda Armstrong gives us her State of the Industry address. March 1-3, our Weekend Education Conference (WeCon) will take place on the beautiful island of Catalina. We’ve never seen such a strong lineup of speakers and activities. We are so excited to annouce that on April 12th, we will celebrate our industry at Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) in partnership with some of our fellow industry organizations. In May we’ll have our final education program of the fiscal year. Before you know it, we’ll be celebrating our incoming /outgoing board and volunteers at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills on June 21st.
I want extend a huge THANK YOU to our volunteers and 2017-2018 Board of Directors. There is so much hard work that goes in to planning our chapter events and initiatives and it is all done by unpaid volunteers - most of whom have full time jobs. It is because of their dedication that we have elevated our networking experiences and education opportunities. We also established our new blog, revamped our communications, invested in video production to tell our story, focused on member needs through our survey, celebrated anniversaries and accomplishments with personal touches, toured college campuses to recruit emerging leaders and much, much more. Because of these efforts, MPISCC was nominated for 3 RISE Awards! The RISE Awards recognize community members from across the globe, celebrating the spirit of leadership, impact, and innovation. Winners are announced at the World Education Congress (WEC) in June and the nominations are quite an honor.
As we begin the New Year, know that you’re appreciated within this community. It’s never too late to get involved and make a difference. In fact, 2018 is just the right time to do it.
We recognize that our success is because of you. Thank you for everything.
2017-2018 President
