New Member Spotlight - Brittany Nelson

Brittany Nelson joined MPI St. Louis last August. She is the Corporate Group Sales Manager at The Chase Park Plaza Hotel. Brittany has been in this role for one and a half years and has been in the industry more than six years.

She went to the University of Missouri - Columbia and graduated with a major in Interpersonal and Organizational Communications and a minor in Sociology. Brittany landed a full-time position with Drury Hotels as a National Sales Coordinator. Within four years, she worked her way up to Area Sales Manager handling local business travel. Wanting to experience the full-service side of the industry, Brittany went to work with Marriott. Shortly after, she received an opportunity (she could not pass up) from The Chase Park Plaza selling for corporate group.s

Brittany says, "The best part of her job is selling for a hotel that has such rich St. Louis history, that is not your standard cookie cutter hotel and working with people who believe in the value of this hotel as much as I do. It is fun to sell for and to be able to continue to be a part of the legacy that is The Chase Park Plaza."

Brittany works with the Membership Committee, procuring and managing the After Five Networking Events. She is excited about a larger role within the chapter in the coming year. She enjoys meeting new people at events and building relationships in the industry. Brittany said, "The networking is the biggest benefit. It is nice to establish relationships with meeting planners, but I like getting to know other suppliers. We are all here to accomplish certain goals, to build a strong community within the industry and to help each other."

Growing up in South City, she loves the culture and history of the area. Brittany enjoys reading books about history, autobiographies and biographies and spending time with her dog Zeus. In her spare time, she is planning a November wedding to her fiance Matthew Kummer.

Brittany has little time for TV, but when she gets the chance she binges on "60 Days In." "Is anyone besides me watching it? I am fascinated why you would CHOOSE to live in prison for 60 days... Anything Reality Jail - don't ask me why. And I love The Big Bang Theory and Shameless."
