MPI announces internship prize for Vanessa Cotton Scholarship Award 2018

MPI UK&I are delighted to announce the 7th MPI Vanessa Cotton Scholarship, created in honour of UK event industry veteran Vanessa Cotton. The scholarship was created to recognise the industry’s brightest and most ambitious students, graduating from event management degrees and supporting their first step in to the meetings and events sector.

Following consultation with universities and industry, this year’s winner will receive a one-month, paid internship with Reed Travel Exhibitions. Reed is the organiser of IBTM World, the leading global event for the meetings, events and incentives industry.

Applications will be subject to a shortlisting process before the selected three submissions are presented to representatives from Reed who will select the winner. The judging panel will include Richard Allchild, IMEX Group and Judy Elvey, Cvent.

Richard Allchild, President of MPI UK and Ireland, said: “We are very thankful to Reed for their ongoing support of this initiative which we feel is important in encouraging new talent to join the meetings and events sector. The opportunity to gain valuable, paid work experience with one of the industry’s leading players is a fabulous opportunity.”

Reed Travel Exhibitions, said: “We are delighted to support the MPI Vanessa Cotton Scholarship again this year; an award we have been privileged to be involved with since its inception in 2011. It is vital that our industry recognises and nurtures new talent, and we are very much looking forward to meeting this year’s winner and giving them that all important first taste of the diverse and exciting meetings and events sector, including inviting them to our flagship event, IBTM World, which takes place in Barcelona from 27-29 November.”

Students on event management and related courses at universities across the country are invited to apply through the online portal 

The deadline for entries is  Friday 9th November 2018.
