Hosted Buyer Turns 10 and is Still Going Strong

By Meeting Professionals International | Apr 21, 2019

Did you know? MPI's very first Hosted Buyer program was in 2010 at World Education Congress (WEC) in Vancouver, and since that time we've hosted thousands of face-to-face appointments for meeting and event professionals.

  • Just over 1,800 planners have participated

  • 1,400 suppliers have participated

  • 26,000 appointments were completed

From strategic meeting management and contract negotiations to new technology for the meeting professional, WEC has myriad educational opportunities--and it's all free for planners accepted into the Hosted Buyer program.

“MPI’s Hosted Buyer Program is always where I get the most business done for my clients,” says Laura Heavrin, CMP, owner of Treasures Travel and Events. “The ease of meeting with suppliers makes it easy to get my business needs met.”

Seven out of 10 planner Hosted Buyer participants have 10+ years of meeting industry experience, which means as a supplier you're showcasing your brand to the right people with the right buying power.

“This is really the main reason we come—for the one-on-one interaction. It’s better than a trade show,” says Linda Fenton, director of sales for the Hilton Daytona Beach Resort/Ocean Walk Village. “You’re guaranteed face time with the planner, and you get a chance to discuss real pieces of business that normally you wouldn’t have the opportunity to discuss.”

Check out our latest video shout-out to suppliers who have been a part of the program since its very beginning! Thank you to all our suppliers who have participated over the years.
