Unique hotel experiences in Luxembourg for EMEC and beyond

By Blair Potter | Jan 24, 2024

Luxembourg has many strengths that make it an attractive choice for various international events, according to Filippo Bicego, cluster director of sales for Accor, a global hospitality company that is also a key partner for MPI’s European Meetings & Events Conference (EMEC), 3-5 March in Luxembourg.

“It has a central location in Europe with easy access thanks to the international airport and well-developed railway system, a multilingual environment that facilitates effective communication and modern infrastructure, including a state-of-the-art conference center, exhibition spaces and concert halls,” he says.

Four Accor hotels—Sofitel Luxembourg Europe, Novotel Luxembourg Kirchberg, Novotel Suites Luxembourg and Mama Shelter Luxembourg—are MPI partners that will help bring EMEC to life. Also hosting EMEC attendees are the Meliá Luxembourg, Parc-Hotel Alvisse, Légère Hotel Luxembourg and Hotel Le Royal Luxembourg. We spoke with several representatives of EMEC 2024 partner hotels about the strengths of both their host properties and Luxembourg as a meeting and event destination.

If you’re attending EMEC, now is the time to book your hotel, as the room block closes 31 January!

Accor

Bicego says it’s important to emphasize Luxembourg’s status as a financial hub, cultural and historical appeal, political stability, international community, high quality of life and focus on social and environmental responsibilities.

“These factors collectively make Luxembourg a perfect choice for hosting a wide range of events, from business meetings to large conferences,” he says, while noting the country’s linguistic diversity (the three official languages are Luxembourgish, French and German, while everyone also speaks English as well); rich history, traditions and architecture; and diverse landscapes with green spaces and natural beauty.

“Luxembourg is known for its safety, culinary delights and efficient public transport as well (it is the first country to have free public transports—trains, trams, busses),” he says. “These elements collectively contribute to a unique and positive experience for visitors.”

Accor offers 14 hotels with 1,659 guest rooms and 37 meeting spaces in Luxembourg. Their four EMEC hotels are in the same location and “the synergy of the sales department permits you to have one dedicated contact for a cluster of great hotels,” Bicego says.

“Our hotels are continually chosen due to their strategic locations, diverse range of brands and accommodations, quality facilities for meetings and events, professional event services with consistent quality standards, sustainability initiatives and our complete loyalty program Accor Live Limitless that provides benefits for both individual travelers and meeting planners,” he says. “For Accor, it is crucial to ensure comfort and satisfaction to attendees during their stay in Luxembourg.”

EMEC will bring high-quality educational content and industry insights, along with the opportunity to network with industry leaders and potential new future collaborators, according to Bicego.

“Luxembourg is the ideal destination to attract a diverse global audience that will offer insights into various practices and business approaches,” he says. “MPI’s EMEC will feature inspirational speakers and case studies, sparking creativity and innovative ideas always fostering a sense of community within the meetings and events profession, encouraging relationship-building and collaboration. This is unique!”

Meliá Luxembourg

Denise Toldo, sales executive, Luxembourg for Meliã Hotels International—Meliá Luxembourg is one of MPI’s EMEC hotel partners—says an event like EMEC can strongly boost Luxembourg’s visibility and reputation as a destination among meeting and event professionals.

“We are excited to welcome the meeting professionals attending EMEC in our hotel because we strongly relate with their objective of building new relationships by embracing differences and fostering intercultural exchange in the meetings and events sector happening in the heart of Europe,” she says. “We look forward to welcoming each and every guest to the Meliá family, hoping they will bring back with them a great souvenir of our hospitality.”

Meliá Luxembourg’s location in the heart of the main business district is key to its appeal to meeting planners. The professionalism of the staff and ability to adapt to every customer’s needs are also important, Toldo says.

“The chance for customers to take a break from their meeting and ‘recharge their batteries’ by taking a walk in the surrounding park or simply by enjoying the hotel’s relaxed Spanish ambience after a long day is what makes us unique,” she says. “No wonder that Meliá has been recognized as one of the top hotels in the city and recommended by all our partners for both business and leisure clients for many years now.”

Meliá Luxembourg features 162 modern rooms, a fitness area and a stylish Mediterranean restaurant with a terrace. Meeting facilities include two spacious conference rooms with a maximum capacity of 120 attendees and a multifunctional space suitable for cocktail receptions, team building events and a variety of other activities. The hotel’s breakfast buffet offers views of the MUDAM, the surrounding park and the old city, while drinks at the Aqua lounge overlook Place de l’Europe and the Luxembourg Philharmonic.

Parc-Hotel Alvisse

Alina Mihai, groups and receptions coordinator for Parc-Hotel Alvisse, one of MPI’s EMEC hotel partners, says as one of the three capitals of the European Union, Luxembourg boasts some of the union’s key institutions, including the European Court of Justice and the European Investment Bank.

“On top of that, it houses the headquarters of a number of global giants, including ArcelorMittal, RTL Group and Amazon,” she says.

Because the Parc-Hotel Alvisse hosts all categories of business meetings, it’s a great fit for the EMEC audience, according to Mihai.

“We are a multilingual team that is happy to assist you in organizing the best events and meeting people from around the world,” she says. “Parc Hotel Alvisse awaits you with spacious, recently renovated premises only a five-minute drive from Luxembourg’s city centre, the airport and the Kirchberg Plateau—home to European institutions. We offer 325 very modern rooms and studios with free Wi-Fi; 14 reception rooms for up to 1,500 people for meetings, conferences and private events; an air-conditioned restaurant and lounge bar; a spa, wellness and beauty center (sauna, hammam, fitness); two tennis courts; two bowling alleys; table tennis; a mountain biking, hiking and jogging trail; and 480 parking spaces for cars and buses.”

Légère Hotel Luxembourg

Olga Frolova, senior sales manager for Légère Hotel Luxembourg, one of MPI’s EMEC hotel partners, says EMEC 2024 delegates can look forward rich history, incredible arts and culture and breathtaking natural landscapes—and culinary delights can start at Légère Hotel Luxembourg.

“Faces lounge and restaurant is a perfect place to discover Luxembourgian cuisine, indulge in delicious cocktails and enjoy the hospitality of our caring staff,” she says. “Spoil yourself with incredible dishes that you won’t soon forget, prepared using only the freshest ingredients. Indulge in delicious cocktails and enjoy the hospitality of our caring staff.”

With a central location and state-of the-art meeting rooms capable of handling meetings of up to 220 people, the Légère Hotel Luxembourg is the perfect partner for meetings, according to Frolova.

“Our 156 design guest rooms, wellness and fitness area make business travelers just as happy as city travelers,” she says. “The hotel is situated only 10 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from Kirchberg, the perfect location to go to the conference center ECCL. The underground, 80-space parking allows you to leave your car at the hotel, which is connected to the business center with the shuttle and a free public transport.”
