The first time I heard about MPI was at an After 5 networking event hosted by AVI. I had
recently worked with them and that’s how I probably got the invite. I enjoyed the event,
talked to a few vendors sponsoring and got new contacts. I thought that it might be helpful
to join, my boss agreed and I became a member. My position at the Airport was recently
created, I was fairly new in this industry and we were planning to do a lot more in the future.

Everybody was so friendly and welcoming at the MPI events that I quickly felt at home. I
volunteered in a few committees almost right away and joined the TBA Chapter Board of
Directors two years ago. I’m currently serving my 2nd term as Director of Member Care. It’s
been a pleasure to help the chapter be strong and successful.

Through the MPI events I was able to network with local suppliers, establish connections and
friendships and work with people I know I can rely on. This made my job a lot less stressful.
Now I know who to call when I need something which is extremely helpful, especially for last
minute projects. The education that MPI provides has been invaluable for me since I don’t
have a formal event industry education. I have attended two SEC conferences and two
WEC and am looking forward to the ones this year. They provide the best way to keep up
with the new trends in the events industry, learn from the best and get fresh ideas.
