CMP - Certified Meeting Professional

The foremost certification of the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry, the CMP program recognizes individuals who have achieved the industry’s highest standard of professionalism. Established in 1985, the CMP credential increases the proficiency of meeting professionals by:

  • Identifying a body of knowledge;
  • Establishing a level of knowledge and performance necessary for certification;
  • Stimulating the advancement of the art and science of meeting management;
  • Increasing the value of practitioners to their employers;
  • Recognizing and raising industry standards, practices and ethics;
  • Maximizing the value received from the products and services provided by Certified Meeting Professionals.

Through the CMP program, individuals who are employed in meeting management pursue continuing education, increase their industry involvement, and gain industry-wide recognition. The requirements for certification are based on professional experience and a written examination. Currently, over 13,000 individuals in 35 countries and territories have earned the CMP designation.

Claiming EIC Credit for MPI North Florida Events

For CMPs and CMP Candidates

  • EIC manages all credit reporting electronically now. CMPs and Candidates must have an account setup to claim or submit credit for application or re-certification purposes.
  • MPI NF is a EIC preferred provider. At the conclusion of an educational event that has been approved for credit a roster of attendees is submitted to EIC.
  • The EIC system uses email addresses to identify CMPs/Candidates. Your email address on file with MPI and EIC must match in order for participation to be recognized and automatically posted to your EIC account.
  • When the roster has been posted, you will receive an email from EIC to claim your credit.
  • After logging into your EIC account, select Add/Edit Continuing Education.
  • Find the session you attended and click edit.
  • Enter the number of hours for the program you attended. (i.e. luncheons are approved for 1 hour). In the case of WEC or other multi-hour events, you will self-report the actual number of hours you participated.
